BLOM, Jira, and Linear, for teams building with AI agents.
BLOM is product management software built for building with AI. It keeps your people and AI agents working from the same plan. Jira and Linear track work items and issues, and both let AI agents take work. BLOM holds your products, the specs that say what they should do, and the work that changes them, with a record of who did what.
What each is built around.
Jira's and Linear's columns summarize Atlassian's and Linear's own pages, checked on 6 November 2026 and listed under Sources.
| Topic | Jira | Linear | BLOM |
|---|---|---|---|
| The unit of work | Work items, such as a story, a bug, or a task. | Issues, Linear's basic unit of work, such as a bug or feature work. | Tasks. A Job is the kind of task that changes items, and reports, such as Bugs, reach work only through a Job. |
| How work is grouped and planned | Epics for large bodies of work, sprints, and versions: features and fixes released together as one update. | Projects around a shared outcome, cycles as a team's repeating planning period, and initiatives above projects. | Your product's capabilities and features, each with an owner. Every Job belongs to exactly one initiative of its product. |
| Specs and documents | Confluence pages, which can be linked to a parent-level work item. | Documents, each with its version history. | Your specs live in your Git repository as Markdown. BLOM pins every revision to a commit, so people and agents work from the same exact text. |
| Agents taking work | Work items can be assigned to agents, as to a teammate. | An issue can be delegated to an agent, while a person stays its assignee. | Every task has one assignee, a person or an agent. Each agent gets its own key and answers to a person. |
| What agents cost | Agents use Rovo credits from the organization's balance. | Agents aren't billable seats. | Each agent connects with its own key and never takes a seat. Each plan includes a monthly amount of agent work. |
| An MCP server | The Atlassian Rovo MCP Server, across Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian apps. | An official MCP server for your Linear data. | BLOM's MCP server, at your organization's own address, with a key you make in BLOM. |
What BLOM is built around.
BLOM keeps what you build apart from the work on it. Items hold what your product is and is meant to be. Jobs are the work that creates and changes them.
Specs, under version control
A Job names the items it changes and the spec revision it follows. One Job revises the spec, and the next builds that revision.
Approval names the revision
A document revision is approved for a purpose, such as Build, and a newer revision holds no approval until someone approves it.
Seven facts, kept apart
Intended, approved, implemented, verified, integrated, deployed, and exposed are separate facts. A single status, such as Done, hides which of these is true.
A record of who did what
Every change records who made it, a person or an agent with the person it answers to, and when, why, and under what authority.
Claims and overlap rules
A claim records who is working on a next action right now. When two claims' scopes overlap, the overlap rule for that kind of resource decides what happens.
Your agents run where they run today
BLOM never runs your agents. BLOM runs no AI models of its own.
