Create your organization

Sign in with GitHub or Google, verify your phone, agree to the terms, and name your organization, its first product, and its PDLC.

Before you start

You need:

  • A GitHub or Google account whose email address GitHub or Google has confirmed.
  • A phone number that can receive texts: a mobile, landline, or fixed VoIP number in one of the 24 countries BLOM accepts.
  • Names for your organization and for the first product it builds. You can rename both later.

Note. To join an organization that already uses BLOM, you don't create one. Ask one of its Administrators for an invitation; Invite people says what to do with it.

Create it

  1. Sign in

Go to blom.boundarylayerlabs.com and select Continue with GitHub or Continue with Google. There's no separate sign-up: your first sign-in makes your profile. BLOM keeps its own session, and never sees your provider's password.

  2. Select Create an organization

BLOM opens Create an organization or join one. Under Create an organization, select Create an organization.

  3. Verify your phone number

Starting an organization takes a verified phone number, and you verify it once. Choose your Country, enter your Phone number, and select Send the code. BLOM texts you a six-digit code that works for 10 minutes. Enter it under Code and select Verify the number.

You can ask for up to three codes and make five tries. If a code doesn't arrive, select Send a new code when the page allows it, or Change the number. Once the page says Verified, it moves on by itself. BLOM shows your number only to you.

  4. Agree to the terms

Check I agree to the Terms of Service and I've read the Privacy Policy. Each has a link that opens the document in a new tab. Then select Continue. If either document changes later, BLOM asks you to agree again before you go on.

  5. Name your organization

Under Set up your organization, enter the Organization name, such as Harbor Labs, and select Continue.

  6. Name your first product and choose your PDLC

On Your first product and PDLC, enter the First product’s name, such as Member onboarding. Under PDLC, choose how work moves from an idea to a release:

    • Recommended lifecycle, chosen to begin with: Define, Design & Specify → Build → Pre-Prod → Verify → Prod, with sub-phases under the first and third.
    • Minimum: Plan → Build → Check → Ship, with planning and specification combined, checks explicit, and release recorded with less ceremony.

You can change your PDLC later; see Your PDLC and its gates.

  7. Choose your standards, and create

Under Standards to start with, BLOM lists its default standards, each ticked: the Specification standard, ADR standard, Testing standard, and Security standard. Select Read it to read one, and untick any you don't want. Creating the organization approves the ones you leave ticked.

Select Create the organization. BLOM sets everything up, then opens Atlas View, your organization's home.

Note. If you've verified your phone or agreed to the current terms before, BLOM skips those steps. If setup stops partway, reload the page: BLOM reads how far it got and offers what's left, with Approve and finish or Finish setup.

What BLOM sets up for you

Creating the organization gives it:

  • You, as its Administrator. You can invite people, add products, and change its settings.
  • Its PDLC, from the starter you chose. Its first version is approved as you create the organization, so it applies to work at once.
  • The standards you left ticked, each approved and in force on Standards. One that couldn't be approved stays there as a draft to approve.
  • Your first product, numbered 1, with you as its accountable owner and a Backlog initiative for its Jobs.
  • Three levels below Product: Capability, Feature, and Component.
  • Task numbers from your organization's name. Harbor Labs' tasks are HL-1, HL-2, and so on.
  • Priority levels: Urgent, High, Normal, and Low. Bugs and Issues also take a severity: Critical, High, Medium, or Low.
  • Teams off. A team is optional. An Administrator turns Teams on in Settings; see Teams.

Get started, on Atlas View

When setup finishes, Atlas View opens with Get started at the top. It takes one step at a time:

  1. Connect Claude Code, Codex, or another agent. Select Copy the prompt and paste it into your agent. Run the command the agent gives you in your own terminal. When it asks for a key, select Copy key, name the key, select Make and copy key, and paste the key where the command asks, never into the agent's chat. BLOM says when your agent has connected. Skip goes on to the next step.
  2. Draft your capabilities and standards. Choose a Prompt, select Copy prompt or Download, and run it in Claude Code or Codex. A connected agent sends its list of capabilities as a proposal you accept on Product summary, and its draft standards to Standards. The AI's draft approves nothing.

Close Get started with its ×. To show it again, open Your profile and, under Organizations, select Show it again. Connect Codex or Claude Code covers connecting in full.

More than one organization

You can belong to more than one organization, each with its own products and PDLC.

  • Switch. Select your organization's name at the top of the rail. Your organizations lists yours by name, with the one you're in marked Current. Choose another to open it.
  • Create another. In the same list, select Create an organization, or select Add an organization on Your profile. You don't verify your phone again. One person can start up to five organizations.
  • Choose where you land. Once you're in more than one, choose your Default organization on Your profile, under Organizations. BLOM opens it after you sign in. An API key, an agent key, or a CLI sign-in stays in the one organization it names.
  • Leave one. On Your profile, select Leave beside it. What you did there keeps your name. The last Administrator can't leave until someone else is an Administrator there.
