Settings
What each setting does, where its value comes from, and who changes it: your organization's settings, and your own, such as your theme.
In BLOMOrganizationSettings
The organization's settings and yours
BLOM keeps two kinds of settings. The organization's apply to everyone in it, and only an Administrator changes them, mostly on Settings. Yours apply only to you, and only you change them, mostly on Your profile.
| Setting | Whose | Where | Who changes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Teams | The organization's | Settings | An Administrator |
| Version digits | The organization's | Settings | An Administrator |
| Time zone | The organization's | Settings | An Administrator |
| The organization's name | The organization's | Products, or Teams and products | An Administrator |
| Name | Yours | Your profile | You |
| Theme | Yours, in every organization | Your profile | You |
| Default organization | Yours | Your profile | You |
| Default product | Yours, in each organization | Product View | You |
| Time zone and formats | Yours, in each organization | Your preferences | You |
Your organization's settings
Select Organization at the foot of the rail, then Settings. Everyone in the organization can open it. Each setting shows its value now beside BLOM's default, and anyone but an Administrator reads Only an Administrator can change this.
An Administrator changes a setting in the BLOM app, or through the CLI or the public API under the same rules. An agent can draft a change to a setting that carries no risk, and a person applies it: no agent applies a change. BLOM records each change in the organization's history: who made it, when, through which channel, and the value before and after.
Teams
Whether your organization uses teams, optional groups that own products. BLOM's default is off. An Administrator selects Turn teams on or Turn teams off, and teams stay on while the organization has a team. See Teams.
Version digits
How many digits a version number's minor has. With three, BLOM's default, an item's second release is v1.001.
Choose the digits
On the Version digits card, choose 2, 3, or 4 under Digits. Each choice shows an example, such as 4 · v1.0001.
Save
Select Save. BLOM confirms with an example, such as Versions made from now on have 4 digits, such as v1.0001.
A change applies to versions made after it, and no number ever changes, since each release records its own digits. Past its width, the minor keeps counting.
The organization's name and time zone
An Administrator renames the organization with Rename the organization, on the screen that lists its products: Products, or Teams and products while teams are on. Its earlier name stays in its history.
The organization's time zone is the one BLOM counts days in, such as on Token use, and shows times in for anyone who hasn't chosen their own. It's UTC until an Administrator sets another in Settings.
Every setting, and where its value comes from
Settings lists every setting at a scope: the organization, a team, or a product. Each row shows the value in effect, where it comes from, such as BLOM's default or the scope above, and whether you can change it. Find a setting by its name or key, or show only those set here, or those that differ from BLOM's default.
Open a setting to read what it means and what bounds it, and its history: each change, with who made it, when, why, and the values before and after. An Administrator can reset a setting to the value it inherits. A fixed rule, which no setting changes, shows with its reason.
Download settings file saves a read-only file of what's set at a scope. It names a value you may not read as withheld, shows a secret only as set or not set, and holds no one's own preferences. Each download is recorded.
Your own settings
Select your name, or Your profile, at the foot of the rail.
- Name
- The name BLOM shows for you. Change it, then select Save the name.
- Theme
- Light, white and gray, is BLOM's default. Soft is warm stone and blue, and Dark is dark slate. The page changes the moment you choose, and BLOM saves your choice and shows it in every organization you belong to.
- Time zone and formats
- On Your preferences, linked at the top of Settings: the time zone BLOM shows you times in, how it writes dates and times, and how your lists open, kept for each organization you belong to. Until you choose a time zone, the organization's applies. No one else can change yours.
- Default organization
- Shown when you belong to more than one organization. BLOM opens it after you sign in. An API key, an agent key, or a CLI sign-in stays in the one organization it names.
- Get started
- If you closed Atlas View's Get started panel in an organization, Show it again brings it back there.
- Default product
- On Product View, Make this my default makes the product you're viewing your default in that organization, and Clear my default removes it. Product View opens on your default while you can see it.
Your profile also shows your Phone, with Verify your phone number until it's verified, and How you sign in. It lists your Command-line sign-ins, each with Sign out, and your Organizations, each to Open or Leave. See The CLI and People and access.
