Product View
Product View shows one product at a time: its items, the work on them, and each item's own page, all counted from BLOM's records.
In BLOMViewsProduct View
Open a product
Select Product View in the rail. It opens on your default product, or on the first product you can see if you have no default.
- Switch product lists the products you may see. Find one by number or name. While your organization's Teams are on, the list is grouped by team.
- Make this my default sets the product Product View opens on. Your default shows Your default, with Clear my default beside it.
- Product summary opens the page where the product is renamed and items are added.
Administrators also see Add a product at the foot of the switcher's list; Add a product covers it. Under the product's name, the header shows its owner and how many items each level holds, such as 15 capabilities · 90 features.
The four blocks
Four blocks sit under the header: Items, Work State, Architecture, and Database. Select a block to open its view below them.
Items and Work State open the product's items and its work. Architecture opens its accepted ADRs, and Database its DB-Specs, the entities they name, and the data checks and migrations recorded for each environment.
Every count comes from BLOM's own records:
- “—” marks a fact with no record behind it.
- A count marked “+” comes from records that couldn't all be read, so the real number may be higher.
- Product View shows counts only, never a percentage.
The steps counted
Both views count open tasks in your PDLC's steps, its top-level phases. By default they count the first three. Select Settings on the PDLC steps counted line to pick others. Items and Work State always count the same steps, and your choice lasts until you open another product or leave Product View.
A step belongs to a task, never to an item. An item counts in a step when an open task on it, or below it, is in that step.
Items
Items shows the product's items as a tree, with a box above it for each level the product uses, such as Capabilities and Features. Each box counts:
- the items at that level with open work in the steps counted, step by step;
- Active tasks on items at that level;
- Done · all work closed: every task on the item and below it closed, at least one as completed;
- Without an owner.
Select a count to show only those items; select Show every capability to go back. Above the tree, find an item by number or name, narrow it to one Initiative, or choose Show: All, With open tasks, or Blocked. The Product-wide line counts the tasks on the product itself and links to Items to Jobs.
Open a row with its arrow, or use Down to to open every row to a level. The tree's columns are the item, its Owner, how many items sit below it, For Build, Built, Dev, Staging, Prod, Tasks, and Requirements. Tasks shows a pip for each task by its activity, and the open count. For Build shows whether the item's P-Spec is approved for Build, and Built whether its work is implemented. Dev, Staging, and Prod show what was recorded as deployed to each environment, and Requirements the item's requirement results. Each fact comes from the record that holds it, and none stands in for another.
A Job counts on every item it targets. A Bug or another report, or a Job that names no target, counts on the item it's filed on.
Work State
Work State shows one product's work, not one person's. A box for each task type, starting with Jobs, Bugs, Issues, Feedback, and Change requests, counts that type's open tasks out of all of them, by activity and by priority level. Each box also counts:
- Product-wide: open Jobs on the product itself, or for a report type, Unfiled: open reports not on an item;
- open tasks in the steps counted, step by step;
- Active tasks, and how many are blocked.
Select a count to show those tasks. Above the tree, find a task by its ID or title, or by the item it's on. Choose a Type, or a Show chip: All, Blocked, Urgent · High, or Unassigned, the open tasks with no accountable owner.
The tree lists the work on the product itself, then each item with work. A row opens to its own tasks and the items under it. Its columns are the item, its Owner, Open tasks, one column for each step counted, Active, and Comes first: the open task with the highest priority, then activity, then rank. Each task's line shows its activity, type, step, priority, ID, the item it's on, its next action and who it waits on, and its owner. Select a task's title to open its page. Above the tree, a button such as Show 4 closed adds the closed tasks.
An item's page
Select an item's name in Items to open its page. The icon beside the name opens the page in a new tab. An item's page reads like a ticket:
- Where it is: the product and the items above it, with arrows to the previous and next items at its level.
- Its header: its level and number, its name, its owner, and the initiatives with a Job on it or below it. Rename and Add an item under it show where you may use them, with Items to Jobs and Back to the list.
- Description: its purpose, as BLOM records it.
- Details: its Owner, who Its tasks wait on, its Parent, Initiatives, Process, Created by, and State, and when it was added to BLOM.
- Versions: each release that made a version of it, newest first, with when, who released it, its Job, and the Jobs it carried. The newest is in Prod. A version is made when a Release step on a Job that targets the item is completed to Production.
- PDLC: the product's process, a column for each step, counting the open work there. Choose Top 3 · tiles or All · one line each, and select a step to list its items and tasks.
- The items below it, each with its owner and tasks, and Tasks: every task on it and below it, which you can search and filter.
Spec files lists the documents homed at the item, each with its revision and whether it's approved, and P-Spec names the item's own P-Spec. Each opens the document's page; see Specs and their revisions.
Atlas View
Atlas View, the first place under Views, is your organization's home. Its tiles count the whole organization: its products, capabilities, and initiatives, its open tasks, its claims, and what waits on you. Below them, its Hierarchy section lists each product's capabilities, which you can narrow by Product, Initiative, or Owner, and by team while Teams are on.
